Imagine being able to tag along with a well-respected veteran jazz vocalist and her business manager for
three business days in a major city. Recently, we received such an opportunity and the artist we would be with was Kathy Lyon. Kathy had just left the beautiful mountains surrounding Ruidoso New Mexico where she was reviewing the final touches on her upcoming release.
Three Days With Jazz Vocalist Extraordinaire Ms. Kathy Lyon
Nestled in those mountains is a rather unique recording studio, Montrose Records West, with producer Richard Cagle at the helm. Richard is the professional that launched such performers as Carolyn Wonderland, Annika Chambers, and most recently Julia Cozby to name a few. Kathy had been invited to Rich’s studio by her good friend and guitar stylist Richard Chorne’. Chorne’ had invited Kathy into the studio to perform the lead vocals on his personal new, upcoming release being recorded at Montrose. Kathy has been traveling a seemingly endless road that leads to venues, radio stations, and recording studios over the years. A self proclaimed road warrior it’s hard to keep this woman in one spot for too long. But being at Montrose to record with Rich Chorne’ was only fifty percent of the reason she was there. The balance of the time would be invested into recording her original new jazz and blues tracks with Richard Cagle. Both objectives were met with Kathy’s upcoming release being scheduled for submission to radio around the globe in early January 2022. Her last album, which is now being featured on terrestrial stations and digital outlets “Nothin’ But Love” is doing quite well. In fact the Smooth Jazz Dot Com Global Network with affiliates around the world reports “Nothin’ But Love” at #28 and one of its tracks “Candy” at #23. Read more Here
